The Forest Area
Arts Council (FAAC) is proud to announce its 6th annual Festival in the
Forest Art Show and Competition.
The Festival in
the Forest 2008 will once again be held at the Forest County 4-H Center,
Route 36, 5 miles south of Tionesta, PA. The Festival will showcase
the artwork of youth/child, amateur, and professional artists, artisans,
and photographers.
The FAAC is inviting
artists, artisans, and photographers to enter their work in the art competition.
Up to three items can be entered for the $15 registration fee. The
registration fee for the Youth/Child division is waived in an effort to
encourage more Youth/Child entries. Limit 3 entries per entrant.
If Divisions/Classification is under represented, they will be incorporated
into a similar Division/Classification, i.e., fiber art to three-dimensional,
etc.

The FAAC is also
inviting artist and artisan vendors to rent a 10’x10’ vendor spaces to
display, demonstrate, and sell additional work they have produced.
The registration fee for vendor space is $10 for a 10’x10’ space for vendors
registering by May 25. After May 25, the fee is $15. Vendors
registering early will be promoted in event advance publicity. Vendors
are required to provide their own canopies, tables, and any other supplies
they require for displaying and demonstrating their work.
Items entered
in the art competition will be display under cover and will be hung on
walls, suspended on peg-board, or placed on level surfaces. Vendor
spaces will be outside.
The competition
will consist of the following three divisions:
Professional,
Amateur, Youth and Child

Professional
– Entrant is professional level if he/she has at least one (1) year of
formal training in his/her particular art form and/or sells his/her art
for profit. |

Amateur – Entrant
is amateur level if he/she actively works to improve and learn his/her
art form, and, has not competed at a professional level in this or other
shows. |

– |
Youth – Entrants
12 to 18 years are youth level. Artwork submitted in youth level
competition must be completed by entrant without direct help from adults. |

– |
Child – Entrants
under 12 are child level. Artwork submitted in child level competition
must be completed by entrant without direct help from adults. |
The entrants may
enter items in the following four classifications:
Two-dimensional,
Three-dimensional, Fiber Art and Photography

Two-dimensional
– framed or matted pictures to include oil, pastel, acrylic, pencil, watercolor,
etc. |

Three-dimensional
– ceramic, pottery, porcelain, carving, collages, etc. |
|
|
 |
Fiber Art – textiles,
quilts, wall-hangings, rugs, weaving, baskets, etc. |
|
|
 |
Photography –
no theme or size limitation: can be framed or matted. |
All artwork must
be original (no kits); items in competition must be new to the Festival
in the Forest (not entered in previous Festival in the Forest).

Entrants
are permitted to offer work entered in competition for private sale with
no commission charged by the Forest Area Arts Council.

Festival in the
Forest 2008 is a rain or shine event. No refunds will be issued within
14 days prior to the event or due to inclement weather conditions.
Festival in the Forest 2008 officially runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Competitors
and Vendors will not be permitted to dismantle exhibits or vendor booths
before 5 p.m.
