yoga, jewelry making, woodcarving, calligraphy, or anything else of interest
in the arts and artisan crafts. The objective is to offer at least
one class a month. If you know of anyone that would be interested

Third St., Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is inviting artists to apply for studio space at the nonprofit arts center and gallery. The Banana Factory, which was established in 1998, offers a wealth of community outreach programs, arts-in-education programs and classes and workshops throughout the year. Its mission is to “kindle, support and celebrate the artistic, cultural and creative spirit of the Lehigh Valley.” The arts center was developed by ArtsQuest, one of Lehigh Valley’s leading art organizations. Its 27 studio artists come from throughout the region and represent a variety of mediums and styles. Studio artist applications are available by visiting www.bananafactory.org or calling 610-332-1300. Artists must submit 15-20 slides of recent work, a resume, an artist’s statement and other relevant support materials. The jurying criteria includes demonstration of a commitment to one’s career, proven ability in one’s chosen medium, creation of original work from start to finish and a willingness and ability to teach, as demonstrated by past experience. The Banana Factory’s artist studios range in size from 145- to 633-square feet. Some spaces have natural lighting while others do not. Rent ranges from $100-$300 per month and includes all utilities and tenant parking. Leases are renewed annually.
