PA Firefly Festival
Make plans to visit Forest County for the first annual PA Firefly Festival this June 21st to 23rd! See our calendar of events for details on the activities, including music, educaitonal programs, arts & crafts and a costume contest for kids, and night time guided hikes for viewing the fireflies. Blue light flashlights will be available for purchase to enable you to see where you're going without disturbing the fireflies in their show. And get your limited edition event t-shirt!
Some 17 species of fireflies have been identified in Forest County, including the rare synchronous variety, and it also happens to be Pennsylvania's State Insect! These two exciting facts prompted a group of local residents to plan this new event and celebrate the elusive and entrancing bug that kids love to catch and adults spend hours watching in total relaxation.
The PA Firefly Festival will be held on the grounds of the Black Caddis Ranch Bed & Breakfast in Kellettville, northeast of Tionesta on Route 666. Camping is available on the Allegheny National Forest or at several local campgrounds. Or see our "Businesses" page for other accommodations options including hotels, motels, cabins, lodges and bed & brakfasts. Restaurants, horseback riding, hiking, fishing and great shopping are all available nearby, as well as canoeing/kayaking, golf, and more!
