Marienville
Where it all began! Named after his daughter Marian, Marienville was home to Cyrus Blood, the founder of Forest County. Sitting on a plateau, Marienville was once considered the Snowmobile capital of the World, and today still offers the visitor access to some of the finest off-road experiences anywhere. Host to the semi-annual Tour-de-Forest, Marienville is also home to a major trail-head access to the Allegheny National Forest; is a part of the PA Wilds; and serves as a Gateway to the Lumber Heritage Region. Famous for its ATV, trail biking and snowmobile trails, the town is host to thousands of riders each year who enjoy easy access, exciting rides, and the friendliness of the local merchants. Nature lovers also flock to Marienville for the spectacular bird watching at Buzzard Swamp, the plentiful hiking trails, and campgrounds known for their wooded beauty. A quiet village nestled between two great forests...the Allegheny National Forest to the north and Cook Forest to the south. Located in scenic Route 66 in Forest County, the area is rich in history and natural attractions. As you walk along the streets you will be drawn into the shops and restaurants and welcomed like you are part of the family!
From atop the plateau with the craziest intersection in PA (remember Forest County still has no stop lights!), travel in any direction and immerse yourself in the kind of beauty and splendor only found when you come to the Wilds!
There's just so much for you to do!
