Allegheny River
and the
Allegheny River Islands Wilderness

The entire length of the Allegheny River as it runs through Forest County has been federally designated as Wild and Scenic. This only verifies what locals have always known - the Allegheny is a fantastic river for recreation!

The bank of Baker Island is seen on the left of this picture. This is one of the Wilderness Islands located along the Allegheny and available for primitive camping and rich bird watching experiences.
