cabinForest County combines the best of both worlds - small town charm and exciting outdoor recreational opportunities!   Whether you're interested in relaxing in a private cabin in the woods, or riding through the Allegheny National Forest on your ATV;  fishing for trout or walleye, or shopping for one-of-a-kind art directly from a local craftsman, Forest County is the place for you.

Special Events of all sorts happen year-round in Forest County.   The spring and summer bring fishing tournaments and fairs, as well as a championship rodeo and the chance to see the magic of our special firefly populations.  Fall brings Oktoberfest and Christmas in the Village.   Winter is quieter,  but Winterfest and Light-Up Night bring light and warmth to our villages.

Sherman Memorial LighthouseForest County is home to many unique places to visit, including the Sherman Memorial Lighthouse, which overlooks the Wild and Scenic Allegheny River.   You can hike to Pigeon Falls to relax or spend the afternoon picking apples or berries. 

In every season, outdoor recreation is Forest County's specialty!  Avid hikers and bikers will find access to a myriad of trails.   Our streams, lakes and rivers have excellent, well-stocked fishing opportunities.   Feeling lazy?  Perhaps just a float down the river in a tube or canoe is for you.  Snowmobile fans will find miles of groomed trails to ride.

sizzling steak editedAfter a long day on the trail, enjoy a cold glass of beer and a hearty meal at one of our local restaurants.   We've got everything from sizzling steaks on a lava rocks at Flying W's Longhorn Saloon to homemade pizza and wings at Bettina's.  Looking for food gifts to take home?  Sample and purchase local wines at R** Bandana and pick up some artisan chocolate from L&B Chocolate.  

Are your adventures mostly about shopping?  Then Forest County has lots to offer!  From Memorial Day to Labor Day, you can browse the quaint little shops of the Tionesta Market Village.  Or take a day to visit the craftspeople on the Artisan Trail.  Just looking for a headlight for your ATV or a case of beer for camp?  Use our handy business list to find exactly what you need.

war memorial winter rowan - Copy (2)Are you a history buff looking to dig a little deeper?  Forest County has a rich history to explore!   There are many historic buildings, monuments and cemeteries to explore throughout the county and beyond.  In nearby Cook Forest in June, you can attend the annual French & Indian War Encampment.  Nearby Tidioute Borough hosts an annual reenactment of the Battle for the Bridge at Remagen in early August.
